Forgiveness Will Open Doors, Strengthen Breakthrough Journey

LAGOS, NIGERIA — Participants in Day Four of the ongoing 100 Days Fasting and Prayer program of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach Lagos on Tuesday are receiving teachings centered on “The Power of Forgiveness,” with emphasis on forgiveness as a spiritual requirement capable of restoring relationships, strengthening prayer life, and opening pathways to divine blessings.

The message, based on scriptural references from Gospel of Matthew chapters 5 and 6, Gospel of Mark chapter 11, and Gospel of Luke chapter 23, presents forgiveness as an essential principle that believers cannot ignore if they desire to stand effectively before God.

The teaching explains that forgiveness means choosing to stop feeling anger or resentment toward individuals who may have caused pain, offense, or emotional hurt.

Participants are reminded that forgiveness extends beyond simply overlooking wrongdoing and includes pardoning, absolving, and releasing people from offenses committed against them.

The message states that human relationships naturally create situations where people become offended, disappointed, or angered by the actions of others.

However, believers are encouraged to exercise wisdom in handling anger rather than allowing emotional reactions to produce sinful actions or prolonged hostility.

The teaching draws attention to biblical instruction contained in Epistle to the Ephesians chapter 4 verse 26, which says, “Be angry, but do not sin: do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.”

Participants are reminded that the scripture does not forbid anger itself but warns against allowing anger to develop into destructive behavior.

The message discourages retaliation and warns against maintaining resentment by refusing to forgive those who may have caused offense.

According to the teaching, forgiveness remains closely connected to an individual’s relationship with God and directly influences spiritual effectiveness.

Reference is also made to Mark 11:25, where believers are instructed that when they stand to pray, they should forgive anything they hold against others so that God may forgive the wrongs committed by them.

The teaching explains that this establishes forgiveness as an important condition for obtaining divine mercy and spiritual restoration.

Attention is further drawn to Matthew 6:12, where believers pray, “Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we forgave the wrongs others have done against us.”

The message explains that unforgiveness creates spiritual obstacles that weaken prayer life and hinder communication with God.

Participants are reminded that holding on to bitterness can render prayers ineffective, inoperative, and spiritually powerless.

The teaching further emphasizes the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, explaining that He left His heavenly throne, came into the world, accepted the form of a servant, and endured death on the cross to bring salvation and forgiveness to humanity.

Because of that sacrifice, believers are encouraged to see forgiveness not merely as advice but as a spiritual obligation.

The session also points to Christ’s words before His death in Luke 23:34, where He prayed, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

The message presents this example as a demonstration of mercy even during suffering and injustice.

Participants are therefore encouraged to embrace forgiveness as a requirement for effective prayer and a pathway toward spiritual freedom and restoration.

The prayer session includes prayer points seeking God’s mercy for forgiveness of sins and restoration of blessings lost because of sin.

Participants are also praying for grace to forgive all who have offended them and for divine intervention regarding ancestral sins and their consequences believed to affect lives, families, and breakthroughs.

Special prayers are additionally being offered for Chukwuebuka Anozie Obi, Spiritual Director of the ministry, with participants seeking divine direction, protection, and promotion over his ministry and leadership.

The Day Four session concludes with declarations of faith that God will grant participants grace to forgive others, pardon sins, and open every closed door in the name of Jesus.
