A 38-year-old man, Jason Santos, has pleaded guilty to horrific child abuse charges in Summit County following a case that shocked investigators and the local community.
According to prosecutors, the victim an 11-month-old infant suffered prolonged and severe abuse that resulted in multiple broken bones, including fractures to the arms, legs, ribs, and clavicle. Medical reports also revealed traumatic brain injury, internal bleeding, and extensive bruising across the child’s body.
Authorities say the baby was discovered unresponsive at a Red Roof Inn, prompting an emergency response. First responders rushed the infant to the hospital, where doctors quickly determined the injuries were consistent with ongoing, intentional harm rather than a single incident.
Investigators described the case as one of the most severe instances of child abuse they had encountered, citing the extent and pattern of injuries. The evidence ultimately led to Santos entering a guilty plea in court, avoiding a full trial.
Prosecutors have indicated they will pursue the maximum penalty. Santos now faces a potential life sentence, with formal sentencing scheduled for April 21.
The case has sparked renewed outrage and concern about child protection, with many calling for stronger safeguards and earlier intervention in suspected abuse situations.
