Four Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza

At least 10 Palestinians were injured in a surge of settler violence across the occupied West Bank, while separate Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip killed four people, Palestinian officials and medics said on Sunday.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the injured were attacked in Deir al-Hatab, a village east of Nablus.

Among the victims were a 45-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and a woman treated for smoke inhalation after homes and vehicles were set ablaze.

Witness footage showed flames engulfing properties as military flares illuminated the night sky.

The violence erupted following the funeral of an Israeli settler, identified as Yehuda Sherman, who died in a car crash a day earlier near the affected communities.

Israeli authorities said they were investigating claims by settlers that the crash was deliberate.

The attacks extended beyond Deir al-Hatab, with multiple villages in the Nablus area reportedly targeted.

The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, said similar assaults had taken place overnight in at least six communities, including areas near Jenin, Salfit, and the Jordan Valley.

Homes were torched, residents assaulted, and several people injured during the raids, which coincided with the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The Israeli military confirmed that security forces detained five Israeli civilians and confiscated weapons while attempting to restore order.

However, it added that its personnel also came under attack during the intervention, and several individuals including soldiers and civilians were injured.

Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir recently condemned settler violence, describing it as unacceptable, particularly during wartime.

Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, hospital authorities reported that four Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes on Sunday.

Three of the victims were police officers killed when a vehicle was struck in the Nuseirat refugee camp, according to the Al-Awda Hospital, which received the casualties. Another fatality was recorded in Gaza City and taken to Al-Shifa Hospital.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the strikes but has previously stated that it responds to perceived threats and ceasefire violations.

Although a ceasefire agreement reached in October aimed to halt more than two years of conflict between Israel and Hamas, violence has persisted.

Gaza health authorities report that more than 670 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect, amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes and gunfire near military-controlled zones.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that at least 25 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli settlers and security forces in the West Bank so far this year, highlighting the growing instability in the occupied territories.
