Late Saturday night, Sabon Wuse in Niger State experienced a devastating gas explosion that caused significant property damage.

Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities, which is a relief for the community.

The explosion occurred around 11:00 p.m. at the Tasiu Gas Plant, situated near the Kalasma Filling Station along the Kaduna Expressway. This location is within the Tafa Local Government Area, making the incident more impactful for local residents.

According to Abdullahi Baba Arah, the Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), the explosion happened during the transloading process.

Workers transferred gas from a trailer tanker to a surface tank, triggering a catastrophic explosion. The blaze rapidly engulfed the gas plant, tanker, and a nearby vehicle belonging to Abubakar Yakubu.

Meanwhile, dense smoke enveloped the area, forcing residents to urgently evacuate their homes. Firefighters struggled to contain the inferno as it spread uncontrollably.

Subsequently, flames reached the Ngeil Grains Processing Factory, incinerating 550 bean bags and six soybean bags. Emergency responders later confirmed no fatalities but reported extensive property damage.
