Breaking: Gbaramatu-Ijaws threaten Eyengho, invade Ijaghala, forge letterhead
DDM News

Delta, Nigeria – A prominent community leader from Warri South-West Local Government Area, Mr. Alex Eyengho, has raised serious allegations against the Gbaramatu-Ijaw clan, accusing them of issuing death threats, bugging his phone, and attempting to forcefully take over ownership of his ancestral community.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Eyengho, who hails from the Ijaghala community in the oil-rich Warri axis of Delta State, made these revelations during a recent press briefing.
He alleged that some members of the Gbaramatu-Ijaw clan, reportedly led by former Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) commander, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, invaded Ijaghala with armed men.
According to Eyengho, the armed group staged what he described as a “kangaroo press conference,” using a forged letterhead bearing Ijaghala community’s identity to falsely claim ownership of the land.
He claimed that the said action was a well-calculated move to intimidate the people of Ijaghala and distort the historical facts surrounding rightful land ownership in the area.
He also accused the group of engaging in illegal surveillance, saying his personal phone line was allegedly bugged in a bid to monitor his communication and movements.
He described the situation as a gross violation of his privacy and human rights.
“I have received death threats. I have evidence of unlawful surveillance and invasion of my community.”
“This is not just about land.”
“It is an orchestrated effort to suppress and silence us,” Eyengho said.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant federal security agencies to urgently step in and investigate the matter before it escalates into a full-blown communal crisis.
According to him, the tension being generated could disrupt the peace of the entire Warri South-West area, especially given the historical rivalry between the Itsekiri and Ijaw ethnic groups.
“If anything happens to me, my family, or members of my community, Nigerians should hold the Gbaramatu-Ijaw clan responsible,” he stated firmly.
Eyengho warned that the people of Ijaghala would not surrender their ancestral land to intimidation and unlawful power play, stressing that only legal and peaceful means can determine rightful ownership.
He reiterated his commitment to peace but warned that the silence of security agencies in the face of these provocations would only embolden those involved.
