Holy Ghost Congress: Adeboye warns christians against pride

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), during the annual Holy Ghost Congress, has warned Christians about the dangers of pride, calling it humanity’s greatest enemy.
As gathered by the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the theme for this year’s Holy Ghost Congress is “Onward Christian Soldiers.”
Pastor Adeboye’s message, titled “Subdue the Flesh,” focused on the importance of humility in a believer’s life.
The General Overseer highlighted pride as a destructive force.
He asserted, “Pride leads to overconfidence. It is the mother of ingratitude.”
Adeboye explained that ingratitude reflects an internal struggle with pride.
“If one struggles to show gratitude to God or needs motivation to praise Him, this indicates a problem with pride.”
However, he urged Christians to recognize the issue and approach their faith with humility.
More so, the Pastor Adeboye emphasized that believers should attribute their successes to God.
He warned against overestimating one’s significance in God’s plans, stating, “Never think that without you, God is helpless.
“It is the other way around—you are helpless without God.”
Using biblical stories, Pastor Adeboye illustrated how pride can lead to downfall.
He urged Christians to embrace humility and continually give glory to God.
Citing James 4:6, he warned, “God resists the proud.”
“If you ever give room to pride, your ally—God—will join your enemy to fight against you.”
During his message, Pastor Adeboye announced a significant event for RCCG members in 2025.
He revealed plans for a 100-day fasting and prayer exercise.
The fasting marks a decade since the last 100-day fast took place in 2015.
Although he did not provide specific dates, he indicated that the fast would begin early in the year, following tradition.
