IMO: Insecurity is over in Orlu says Orlu LGA Chair, Mbarie

The Executive Chairman of Orlu local government area of Imo state, Pastor Christian Mbarie has stated that insecurity is over in Orlu and the area is relatively peaceful.
He stated this while addressing newsmen who visited him in his office at Orlu local government headquarters on Friday 31st January 2025.
Pastor Mbarie noted that since he assumed office three months ago, he had tackled insecurity headlong and bringing it to halt hence the peace the people are enjoying till today.
” Everyone knows about the situation in Orlu in terms of insecurity but by the grace of God, I have tackled it.
I started by having meetings with all the village chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders across the 36 autonomous communities and through the meetings, I advised them to understand the importance of taking charge of their villages. Ensuring that their villages are well protected”, he stated.
Mbarie said after those meetings Orlu people started enjoying peace and they have enjoyed it till today.
The proactive chairman hinted that he had empowered over 250 indigent women with eighty thousand naira each (#80,000.00) to start up small scale businesses because of the damages caused by insecurity in Orlu.
He added that many of the women are doing very well with the money given to them and more will be empowered.
” I have also set up task forces for road users. Before now Orlu looks very disorganized. I set up a taskforce to decongest the areas and if you move round, you will discover that the movement of vehicles and others is free”, Mbarie noted.
The longest serving chairman said he has cleaned up the environment by evacuating refuse dumps within the space of 100 days.
The man of God turned politician pointed out that he has been able to install Solar powered light in the local government, made some reasonable renovations while some projects are still ongoing.
He thanked Governor Hope Uzodinma for helping the local government in renovating some of the dilapidated structures and for uplifting Orlu.
” We are building a one storey building office that will accommodate the Vice chairman, the secretary to the local government, the supervisory councillors and other government functionaries”, he said.
The LGA boss promised that by the end of April the buildings will be completed and the governor will come and commission them.
He said that a lot is going on to improve Orlu LGA so as to look like a mega city that it is, stressing that the governor is doing so much especially the road infrastructural revolution and that they are doing their own to compliment his efforts.
Mbarie said if there will be any state in the South East, Orlu local government will be used as state capital and that is why they are improving the standard to a modern standard.
He promised that he would not let Orlu people and the governor down for this opportunity they gave to him.
” Orlu LGA is now the busiest and most functional in Imo state and the reason is because I don’t joke with my work. I come to work every working days and I motivate every one to function”, he noted.
The chairman bought 150 JAMB forms for indigent persons in Orlu to enable the poor go to school.
He stated that his relationship with the legislative and judicial arms is cordial because he broke the communication gap by carrying them along in all he does in the local government.
