The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed willingness to collaborate with security agencies in combating terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities in Nigeria.

The group emphasized that its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), remains committed to safeguarding the Southeast from external threats.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) noted this in a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB reaffirmed its dedication to eliminating criminal elements, particularly ISWAP terrorists and armed herdsmen operating in the region.

The group declared its readiness to cooperate with the Nigerian Police, Military, and other security forces to eradicate these threats from Igboland.

“The global family of IPOB, led by Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wants to remind Nigerians and the world that while many regions in the country are under siege by killer herdsmen and jihadists, the Southeast remains relatively secure due to the efforts of ESN,” Powerful stated.

He highlighted that ESN has been instrumental in preventing incursions by ISWAP, armed Fulani herdsmen, and other militant groups.

According to him, the security outfit has remained steadfast in its duty to protect the people of the Southeast and South-South.

“ESN has proven its commitment to its core mandate of defending our land from terrorist elements.

It has consistently resisted infiltration by these criminals, ensuring that our people are not subjected to the same level of violence witnessed in other parts of Nigeria,” Powerful added.

The IPOB spokesperson stressed that the group and its security wing will continue working tirelessly to maintain peace in the region.

He attributed the relative stability in the Southeast to ESN’s proactive operations, arguing that without their presence, the situation would be different.

“In fulfilling our pledge to secure the ancient land of the Igbo people, ESN has made it clear that the safety of our communities is non-negotiable.

The absence of widespread attacks in the Southeast and South-South, compared to other regions, is a direct result of ESN’s vigilance and sacrifices,” Powerful noted.

He further asserted that while governors in other regions lament the growing insecurity, their counterparts in the Southeast and South-South benefit from ESN’s efforts.

“The reality is that the tireless work of ESN has shielded the Southeast from the same fate that has befallen other parts of Nigeria.

This is why our governors are not making distress calls like their counterparts elsewhere,” he stated.

IPOB reiterated its stance on ensuring that Igboland remains a safe zone and vowed that ESN would not relent in its responsibility to secure lives and properties in the region.
