Prominent Itsekiri leaders have criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over what they described as her involvement in issues concerning Warri, while also expressing concern over the country’s worsening security situation.
In a video circulating on social media, one of the leaders questioned why the First Lady is interested in matters relating to Warri when she had not shown the same level of concern over developments in Osun and the growing insecurity affecting parts of Northern Nigeria.
The speaker lamented over the state of security across the country, saying Nigerians are facing increasing hardship as violent attacks continued in several communities.
According to him, the country is “bleeding” under the weight of insecurity, adding that many citizens expected stronger interventions and public concern from those in positions of influence.
He also questioned the role of the First Lady in governance, arguing that she holds no constitutional office within the presidency and should refrain from interfering in issues he believes fall outside her responsibilities.
The Itsekiri leader further expressed frustration over the handling of issues affecting his people, saying they could no longer remain silent in the face of developments they considered detrimental to their interests.
“We have kept quiet for too long. We cannot continue to sit on the fence while our people are being treated unfairly,” he said.
He vowed that the Itsekiri people would continue to defend their rights and protect their interests, insisting that they were prepared to face any consequences that might arise from their position.
The speaker maintained that his people would not be intimidated into silence and urged Nigerians to take note of their resolve.
