Nigerian rapper and philanthropist Kokopee has sparked conversation with a thought-provoking message about education, survival, and respect for all roles in society.
In a reflective statement, the artist questioned the true purpose of schooling and education, urging people to look beyond certificates and focus on the broader goal of living a meaningful life.
“What is school? What is education? What is the aim of going to school?” he asked. “At the end of the day, is the aim not to have a better life that affects society positively?”
Kokopee also addressed the growing divide between those with formal education and those without, warning against looking down on people who could not afford to attend school.
He emphasized that in today’s Nigeria, traditional paths to success are no longer guaranteed, as many people are being forced to find alternative ways to survive.
“Go to your university, learn how to read and write, but don’t make people who can’t afford to go feel worthless. Do not oppress them,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of every role in society, Kokopee stressed that dignity should not be tied solely to academic achievement or job status.
“Everyone has a role to play in society. Play yours and don’t talk down on others. Your gateman is as important as a doctor just don’t compare them. Value them.”
His message has resonated with many Nigerians, sparking discussions about inequality, opportunity, and the need for mutual respect in a rapidly changing society.
