Kwara Firefighters Avert Petrol Tanker Explosion in Ilorin

ILORIN, Kwara State — Firefighters in Kwara State have successfully averted a major disaster after preventing a petrol tanker carrying 45,000 litres of fuel from exploding following a mechanical fault in Ilorin, the state capital.

The incident occurred on Saturday along the Ilorin-Jebba highway, a busy route that connects Kwara State to other parts of the country. According to the Kwara State Fire Service, the tanker developed a mechanical fault while in transit, prompting fears that the highly flammable fuel could ignite and cause a catastrophic explosion.

Fire service personnel were immediately deployed to the scene and worked swiftly to cool the tanker and prevent the fuel from igniting.
