Kwara: Local Hunters Rescue PoS Operator From Kidnappers, Two Die In Gun Battle

But for the vigilance of local hunters in Oke Ogun, a bustling suburb of Kwara State, a PoS agent would have joined the growing numbers of kidnap victims spreading across tue country, DDM has learnt this Tuesday evening.

The matter is still a developing story on account of absence clear police response on matter, but report has that the incident recorded two fatalities.

A witness in the community, located in Ifelodun Local council of the North Central State, narrating the incident to a local blog, said two people were killed in the botched kidnap attempt.

Narrating the incident, the witness (DDM elects to hide the identity for safety reasons) said that it all began at 7 PM, today.

By the account, six men, believed to be militia men often tagged with an ethnic background up North stormed the town on bike, attacked and attempted to Kidnap the POS agent.

In an attempt to scare off any rescue attempt, the attackers shot sporadically into the air.

“In the ensuing melee, a trader named Iya Niyi from Aleye Compound was caught by stray bullet and died on the spot.

“The gun shots attracted hunters who gave the Kidnappers a hot chase while also exchanging gunfire.

“One the assailants, a teenager was killed in the process”, explained the witness.
The source said that the hunters were still in hot pursuit of the would be kidnappers as the time of making the report.

Kwara State Police Command is yet to make a statement on the matter.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, promised to confirm the incident and update newsman.
