Diaspora Digital Media has obtained details of a tragic incident involving an Enugu single mother, Oluchukwu Odo, who reportedly killed her twin sister and her niece on Wednesday morning.

Oluchukwu, the daughter of the late Lawrence Odo from Umuidenyi, Aji, Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area, is said to have expressed remorse after the act.

Her twin sister had visited their parents’ home from her husband’s residence, accompanied by her daughter, when the incident took place. Family sources confirmed that the tragic event occurred during this visit.

“She attacked her sister and niece with a heavy object, killing them instantly,” a family member recounted.

Oluchukwu then attacked her mother, repeatedly stabbing her in the chest with a kitchen knife. Despite her injuries, the mother was able to flee to a nearby residence, crying out for assistance.

“I was in my house when I heard the woman screaming and running towards my door,” a neighbour said. “When I opened the door, I saw her covered in blood and begging for help.”

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning as residents of the community were just waking up, according to a resident, Chigozie Mama.

The situation escalated until a neighbour intervened, prompting a swift response from the Aji Neighbourhood Watch group. They pursued Oluchukwu and apprehended her in a neighbouring village.

While being taken away, Oluchukwu reportedly displayed remorse, stating, “I don’t know what came over me.”

Her words were laced with regret and confusion as she struggled to come to terms with her actions.

The suspect has since been handed over to the police at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ogrute, Enugu Ezike, for further investigation.
