Man Dies While Retrieving Phone From Well In Kano

KANO, NIGERIA — A tragic incident has been reported in Kano State after a 45-year-old man, identified as Yusuf Usman, died while attempting to retrieve his mobile phone from a well that had reportedly been converted into a refuse pit.

The incident, which occurred in a residential area of Kano, has been confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service, which stated that emergency responders were called to the scene following distress reports from residents.

According to preliminary accounts, the deceased allegedly entered the well in an attempt to recover his phone after it fell inside. However, he was overcome while inside the structure, which had reportedly been filled with refuse and posed significant safety hazards. Efforts by nearby residents to rescue him were unsuccessful before emergency personnel arrived.
