May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has filed a ₦1.5 billion lawsuit at the Lagos High Court against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, and Yinka Omolola Theisen over the alleged leak of her private information and a prolonged campaign of online harassment.
The suit, marked LD/10737GCM/2026, was filed through her legal team, Jessica Egbafor and Esther Fijo of Greylaw Partners. Also joined in the case are unidentified operators of several social media accounts accused of cyberbullying, harassment and defamation.
The latest legal action follows cease-and-desist letters issued by May in September 2025, demanding the removal of what she described as defamatory publications, public apologies and compensation for damage to her reputation.
In the fresh suit, May is asking the court to permanently restrain the defendants from publishing or circulating any defamatory or threatening content about her. She also wants the disputed social media accounts and posts taken down, while seeking an order compelling the platforms involved to disclose details of the account owners to aid investigations.
In a 126-paragraph affidavit, May alleged she has been the target of an organised online campaign involving false claims, manipulated photographs, AI-generated images, insulting caricatures and even death wishes aimed at damaging her reputation.
She further accused Ugwuonye of violating solicitor-client confidentiality by allegedly releasing information obtained during the course of representing her.
According to May, the online attacks intensified despite legal notices served on some of the defendants in 2025, with new social media accounts allegedly created to continue the campaign.
She claimed the publications have affected her business, endorsement deals and commercial relationships. She also alleged that the release of her personal contact details exposed members of her family to harassment and caused her emotional distress, anxiety and fears over her safety.
Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen directed that all court processes be served on the defendants through their last known addresses, email addresses, social media accounts and other electronic communication channels.
The case was adjourned for a report on the service of court documents.
