Nabeeha’s killer apprehended despite attempt to bribe DPO with N1 million

 

Nemesis appears to have caught up with Bello Mohammed, 28 and some of his gang members believed to have killed Nabeeha Kadiriya, one out of five sisters of a family, all kidnapped alongside with their father recently in Abuja.

The gang is believed to have been the syndicate that wrought havoc on the nation’s capital in the past month

Bello was arrested in Kaduna, 20th January but the information was made public on Sunday through the police X handle.

According police account, a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Tafa, in the state, acting on intelligence, raided a certain hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, where he arrested Bello, with the sum of N2.25m.

The police are working on the theory that the money is proceeds of ransoms collected from kidnapped victims within the area.

The suspect, during interrogation, confessed to be part of the gang that kidnapped the family members of one Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT, on 2nd January 2024, and killed some kidnapped victims, including Nabeeha, the daughter of a legal practitioner, on 13th January, 2024, in a kidnappers camp, in Kaduna State.

During his arrest, the suspect offered N1,000,000, allegedly, to the DPO as an inducement to set him free.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has since ordered that the suspect, who also confessed to his involvement with five bandits already liquidated in a gun fight in Kaduna by the Intelligence Response Team, IRT.

The bandit group, as learnt was headed by one Mai Gemu (aka Godara), whose deadly camp has also been destroyed.

The police said that the suspect would be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations into the matter and arrest of all other culprits responsible for the dastardly act.

“The suspect is currently helping the police in their investigations,” the police statement said.

While commending the DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for the commitment and professionalism displayed in the case, the IGP further assured that the Police would leave no stone unturned in the drive to decimate criminality in the country.
