The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed strong support for NAFDAC’s ongoing fight against counterfeit drug dealers across Nigeria.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports that NAFDAC has sealed over 11,000 shops and arrested more than 40 suspects in recent operations.

The agency has also destroyed counterfeit drugs worth billions of naira to protect public health and ensure safe medication circulation.

Reacting to the development, NANS National Public Relations Officer, Samson Adeyemi, commended NAFDAC’s relentless efforts in tackling fake drugs nationwide.

He emphasized that counterfeit drugs pose serious health risks, especially to students, who are vulnerable to substandard medications.

Adeyemi stated that NANS fully supports NAFDAC’s initiative, which aligns with the association’s goal of safeguarding students’ health.

He noted that fake drugs contain harmful substances that can lead to severe health complications and long-term medical issues.

According to him, counterfeit drugs threaten the future of Nigerian youths by negatively impacting their health and academic performance.

Adeyemi stressed that the crackdown on fake drugs would help ensure that only safe and authentic medicines are available.

NANS urged students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities in their schools or communities.

The student body called on relevant authorities, government agencies, and stakeholders to continue supporting NAFDAC’s efforts.

Adeyemi highlighted the need for stricter regulations and stronger enforcement to prevent fake drugs from circulating in Nigerian markets.

He stated that protecting public health requires a collective effort from the government, students, and the general public.

NANS warned that individuals distributing fake drugs are endangering lives and must be held accountable for their actions.

The association urged the government to provide NAFDAC with adequate resources and support to sustain this fight.

Meanwhile, NAFDAC has intensified its operations against producers and distributors of adulterated beverages across the country.

On Wednesday, the agency arrested a suspect, Anthony Chidi, at Mile 3 Market in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

NAFDAC’s South-South Zonal Public Relations Officer, Cyril Monye, confirmed that Chidi was caught reusing bottles for illegal alcohol sales.

Officials warned that such activities expose consumers to serious health risks due to contamination and harmful substances.

NAFDAC vowed to impose harsher penalties on individuals involved in the illegal production and distribution of fake drugs.

The agency emphasized its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring strict compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.

NANS commended NAFDAC for its proactive approach in eliminating counterfeit drugs from Nigerian markets.

Adeyemi urged students to support the fight by reporting any illegal drug activities they encounter in their environment.

He stressed that fake drugs must be eradicated to safeguard the well-being of Nigerian youths and future generations.

The association reiterated its call for increased public awareness campaigns to educate people on identifying counterfeit medications.
