NCAT appoints Ismaila Adamu as new rector and chief executive

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) has appointed Dr. Ismaila Adamu as its new rector and chief executive.

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), established in 1964 in Zaria, Kaduna State, is Nigeria’s premier aviation training institution.

It provides comprehensive training for pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft maintenance engineers, and aviation managers.

Recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), NCAT plays a crucial role in developing skilled professionals for Nigeria’s aviation industry.

In a statement released by NCAT’s director of information, Jude Amadi, the institution expressed gratitude for Adamu’s appointment, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports.

“The acting rector, Joseph Imalighwe, and the entire NCAT staff welcome Mr. President’s approval of Dr. Ismaila Danjuma Adamu, PhD, as the substantive rector/chief executive of NCAT,” the statement read.

The statement also highlighted that Adamu’s appointment aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of selecting highly qualified professionals for strategic leadership positions.

NCAT’s confidence in Adamu’s leadership

According to the statement, Dr. Adamu’s impressive academic and professional background makes him an excellent choice for the role.

“The outstanding credentials of the new rector/chief executive reinforce President Tinubu’s commitment to appointing the right people for key positions,” it noted.

The NCAT community has expressed confidence that Adamu’s leadership will bring significant progress to the institution.

Imalighwe described him as a respected academician and administrator with deep expertise in aviation management.

His career has been shaped by years of research, training, and leadership experience in the aviation sector.

Adamu’s educational background and expertise

Dr. Ismaila Adamu holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University.

He further advanced his academic journey by obtaining a Doctorate (PhD) from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.

His PhD research, titled “The Impact of International Air Transport Liberalisation: The Case for Nigeria,” reflects his deep understanding of the aviation industry.

Adamu’s vast knowledge in aviation policy and regulation is expected to contribute significantly to NCAT’s growth.
