Nigerian Army Commander honours troops with dinner, commends their bravery

The Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation of the Nigerian Army HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Waidi Shaibu, hosted a dinner for troops on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Army Officers’ Mess and Suites.
“I am delighted to host you all here tonight to show my appreciation for your efforts and commitments in all operations across the NE Theatre, especially during the just concluded dry season operations,” Major General Shaibu said. “Your steadfastness and bravery have earned OPHK more commendations from Army Headquarters (AHQ).”
The dinner was attended by troops from across all Sectors of OPHK, who were treated to a relaxing evening of food, drinks, and camaraderie.

The troops savouring various delicacies
Major General Shaibu also presented offer letters to deserving soldiers who exhibited high levels of professionalism in major operations. The letters were part of the Affordable Housing Ownership Option for All (AHOOA) Soldiers Scheme, a initiative aimed at providing affordable housing for soldiers.
The Theatre Commander stressed the importance of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) in the Nigerian Army (NA), urging them to ensure that soldiers are properly groomed for upcoming tasks.

“The main effort in the NE is to restore normalcy and provide a conducive environment for socio-economic activities to thrive,” Major General Shaibu reiterated. “I charge you all to gear up for the wet season operations in the Theatre.”
The troops expressed their gratitude for the honor and promised to continue doing their best to decimate the remnants of Boko Haram Terrorists and their counterparts in the region.
