NNPP suspends four Lawmakers in Kano over alleged anti-party activities

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has announced the suspension of four of its National Assembly members, citing allegations of anti-party activities.

The announcement was made on Monday by Hashimu Dungurawa, the NNPP chairman in Kano, during a press briefing.

The suspended lawmakers consist of Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South, and Abdullahi Sani Rogo from Rogo Federal Constituency.

Additionally, Abdullahi Rurum represents Rano/Kibiya, while Ali Maadakin Gini represents Dala Federal Constituency.

These suspensions mark significant developments in the political landscape.

According to Dungurawa, party leaders suspended certain members for their recent actions, which contradicted the party’s principles and objectives.

These members, elected under the NNPP platform, have acted contrary to the party’s wishes, beliefs, and values, Dungurawa stated.

Additionally, he alleged that the affected lawmakers received automatic tickets during the election process, and afterward, they deviated from the party’s interests.

He highlighted specific incidents, such as Senator Kawu Sumaila, who reportedly launched projects at his university without consulting party members.

Dungurawa viewed this as a clear example of anti-party behavior that undermines party unity and purpose.

Dungurawa affirmed that the NNPP welcomes dialogue, providing suspended members the opportunity to be reinstated if cleared.

He added, “We are committed to upholding NNPP values and ensuring that our representatives align with the party’s objectives.”

The suspension marks a significant development within the NNPP, as it seeks to address internal challenges and enforce party discipline.

The affected lawmakers have not yet responded publicly to the suspension or the allegations against them.
