BENIN, Edo State — The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects and rescued a teenage girl who was abducted and sexually assaulted in the Ewohimi community of Esan South-East Local Government Area, the command has announced.

The suspects were arrested following a report by the victim’s father, who reported that his daughter had been missing since June 12 and was later found in a hotel room after being lured and assaulted by a 25-year-old suspect named Jude.

According to the NSCDC, upon receiving the report, operatives of the command tracked the victim’s phone number to a hotel in the Ewohimi area, where she was found with the suspect, Jude. The victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment, where it was confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.

The NSCDC has assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded, reiterating the command’s determination to ensure justice for the victim and serve as a deterrent to others.
