In June 2017, Anambra State was ranked the 10th highest external debtor in Nigeria with approximately $85.5 million in debts.
Ironically, shortly before Willie Obiano assumed office as governor in March 17, 2014, the State was debt-free.
Today, the state also parades one of the highest internal debts in Nigeria.
The state’s indebtedness, both externally and internally, amounts to about N65 billion.
Observers are watching to see where Obiano will leave the state at the expiration of his next four years tenure which will begin in March, 2018.
Check out the debt profile of each state as provided by Debt Management Office [DMO] and powered by EiEnigeria and Budgit.
