Oliver Tree Reportedly Among Victims in Fatal Helicopter Collision in Brazil

Alt-pop musician and internet personality Oliver Tree has reportedly died following a tragic helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 32-year-old artist was said to be among six individuals who lost their lives when two helicopters collided mid-air on Sunday. One of the aircraft subsequently crashed into a car dealership parking lot, igniting a fire that reportedly destroyed about 20 vehicles.

Dramatic footage circulating in Brazilian media shows one of the helicopters plunging from the sky, followed by thick smoke and flames rising from the crash site.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, with the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro confirming they were alerted around 09:00 local time. Authorities have since launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

According to reports, Argentine content creator Gaspar Prim Díaz, popularly known as Gaspi, was also believed to be on board one of the helicopters. Other individuals listed on the flight manifest include Lucas Brito Chaves, Lucas Vignale, and pilot Alexandre Souza. The second aircraft reportedly carried pilot Charles Marsillac.

Oliver Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz, California, rose to prominence in 2016 after going viral on social media. Known for his distinctive bowl haircut and unique sound, he gained global recognition with hit songs such as “Life Goes On,” “Miss You,” and “Alien Boy.”

The artist had recently embarked on a world tour, with his last performance held in São Paulo on June 6. He was scheduled to perform in Lisbon on July 1, with additional shows planned in Glasgow, Manchester, and London later in the year.

Tributes have poured in from fans and fellow entertainers. British YouTuber and musician KSI, who collaborated with him on the track “Voices,” shared an emotional message, expressing shock and grief over the news. Jackass star Steve-O also paid tribute, describing Tree as a caring and genuine friend.

Oliver Tree was nominated for a Brit Award in 2024 for “Miss You,” a collaboration with German producer Robin Schulz. Beyond music, he was known for his eccentric personality and creative stunts, including setting a Guinness World Record in 2020 for building the largest kick scooter.

As investigations continue, fans around the world are mourning the loss of an artist widely regarded for his originality and impact on alternative pop culture.
