Opposition betrayal: Are Nigerian politicians enabling a Tinubu-Wike dictatorship?
DDM News

In a recent interview on Arise Television, Chief Dele Momodu warned potential opposition challengers.
He cautioned anyone planning to confront President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in the 2027 elections.
According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Momodu claimed that Tinubu’s longstanding power has grown even stronger with Wike by his side.
He characterized their alliance as an almost unassailable political force that will crush any dissent.
Momodu compared the upcoming election to the World Cup, where only the best strategies and talents prevail.
“Tinubu was already powerful before his presidency,” he insisted, emphasizing that Wike intensifies his dominance.
He maintained that challengers must prepare for a fierce and strategically complex political battle.
Momodu sharply criticized internal divisions among opposition groups, particularly targeting the PDP Governors’ Forum.
After a strategy meeting in Ibadan, the forum rejected the coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
That coalition intended to unite key opposition figures like Peter Obi and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai.
He warned that refusing to form a united front severely weakens the opposition’s ability to challenge the ruling APC.
According to Momodu, unity is not optional but essential if the opposition is to stand any chance in 2027.
“Atiku can’t win it alone, nor can Obi or any other individual,” he argued, urging for a consolidated effort.
He referenced the APC’s successful coalition in 2014 as proof that unity dramatically alters electoral outcomes.
Momodu also evoked historical battles, citing Tinubu’s fearless stance during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s era.
He praised Tinubu for resisting political pressure, which he sees as a sign of true leadership.
“A bully only respects a bully,” Momodu declared, calling for the opposition to adopt a bolder, uncompromising stance.
He lambasted politicians who succumb to fear of arrest or political retaliation from influential government institutions.
Momodu denounced defections as acts of betrayal, comparing them to reckless plunges into the Atlantic Ocean.
He argued that such actions not only weaken the opposition but also betray the public’s trust in real change.
He implored political actors to abandon self-interest and build a force based on unity and sacrifice.
Momodu’s comments carry a dual message: the opposition’s infighting is gifting power to the ruling alliance.
He issued a passionate call for Nigerians to rise, unite, and confront the entrenched political status quo.
As the 2027 elections near, his remarks serve as both a warning and a controversial accusation of political betrayal.
Political observers now watch closely, questioning whether the opposition can overcome its divisions.
If disunity persists, the Tinubu-Wike alliance could continue shaping Nigeria’s political destiny.
