Over 200 armed bandits flee Zamfara forests into Sokoto amid intensified military operation

Due to intensified military operations, over 200 armed bandits have abandoned their hideouts in Zamfara forests and moved to Sokoto State.

Specifically, they have relocated to Isa and Sabon Birni areas, seeking refuge from ongoing security crackdowns.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed this development through intelligence sources on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to reports, the bandits fled from Danjibga and other southern Zamfara forests zones.

Currently, they are regrouping along forest corridors connecting Gusami and Rugu in Zamfara to Rukudawa forest near Zurmi.

From there, they advance through Dutsi toward Fakai before infiltrating deeper into Sokoto’s Isa axis. Local sources verified that this movement began earlier this week.

By Wednesday night into Thursday morning, more than 200 armed individuals had gathered in the Isa–Sabon Birni axis.

Intelligence suggests this relocation is tied to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, who may be orchestrating the strategic shift.

Meanwhile, military operations in Zamfara continue targeting violent groups responsible for kidnappings and attacks.

However, the bandits’ migration raises security concerns for Sokoto communities. Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements immediately.

In response, security forces are enhancing surveillance and tactical operations to counter the threat.

This situation highlights the fluid nature of banditry in the region, as armed groups evade military pressure by crossing state lines.

Experts emphasize the need for inter-state coordination to prevent further displacement and ensure long-term security.

Without a unified approach, bandits may continue exploiting regional boundaries to evade capture.
