Police recover more bodies of movie cast from Nigerian river

Marine police attached to Nigeria’s Anambra command says that it has recovered three more bodies of the remaining victims of the unfortunate boat mishap involving a movie cast.

Late Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo (pictured), was one of the victim of the accident.

Two of the bodies were recovered yesterday Thursday April 11, 2024 while the last was washed ashore by the tide Friday morning.

According to a statement issued by the Police spokesman in Anambra State, Ikenga Tochukwu,  a Superintendent of Police, all the bodies have been deposited in the hospital mortuary in Asaba while the President of the Guild of Actors and Actresses has been notified of the recovery.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, Ikenga said that he has charged all water commuters to be safety conscious and avoid behaviour that may jeopardize their safety and that of others while on transit on water.

Adeoye also promised to expedite investigation  into the sad accident that claimed lives of five actors.

He also commended the Command’s  Marine Unit and its Commander for dedication to duty.
