2027: seyi tinubu has what it takes to be lagos governor – minister

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has thrown his weight behind Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son, saying he is qualified and not too young to become the next Governor of Lagos State.
This endorsement comes after the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) backed Seyi to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in November 2024.
Olawande described Seyi as his leader and mentor, emphasizing that the president’s son has the capacity to lead Lagos State.
He argued that Seyi’s youth should not be a barrier, citing his well-trained background and experience in supporting and elevating young Nigerians, even before his father became president.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports that the minister in Lagos, highlighted Seyi’s hands-on approach, noting that he is actively involved in promoting youth development, rather than simply enjoying his privileged position.
Olawande emphasized that Seyi is committed to creating opportunities for young people to grow and thrive.
Interestingly, Olawande clarified that Seyi is not behind the endorsement campaigns by various groups.
Instead, these groups have independently recognized Seyi’s potential and are advocating for his candidacy.
The debate surrounding Seyi’s potential governorship has sparked intense discussion.
Some argue that Lagos, being a cosmopolitan city, requires a leader with a deep understanding of its complexities.
Others believe that Seyi’s youth and inexperience might be a liability.
However, many Nigerians, including Olawande, are confident in Seyi’s abilities.
They point to his track record of supporting youth development initiatives and his commitment to creating opportunities for young people.
As the 2027 governorship elections approach, the conversation around Seyi’s candidacy will undoubtedly continue.
