Putin’s ally—Lukashenko of Belarus re-elected as President for 7th term

President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus

Alexander Lukashenko has been officially re-elected as President of Belarus for his seventh consecutive term.

President Lukashenko, a tacit ally of President Vladimir Putin of Russia, has been the President of Belarus since July 20, 1994.

That makes him the longest-serving head of state in Europe.

As of 2025, he has been in office for over 30 years, having been re-elected six times: in 2001, 2006, 2010, 2015, and 2020.
