A sexual predator has been jailed for 13 years in prison on March 14, 2025, at the Inner London Crown Court after claiming his DNA changed.

This comes following an intense investigation by  metropolitan police detective.

Media report says, Rashane Lee, 26, of Old Kent Road, Southwark London, was found guilty of two counts of rape, despite his desperate attempts to discredit the overwhelming forensic evidence against him.

Predatory Attack in Central London

The court heard how, on June 1, 2024, Lee targeted a lone woman on her way home in Central London.

Pretending to be traveling in the same direction, he gained her trust before dragging her to a secluded area and attacking her.

The victim immediately reported the assault, prompting detectives to launch a high-stakes manhunt.

Forensic Evidence Exposes Lies

CCTV footage and forensic evidence linked Lee to the crime, with DNA results proving his involvement beyond a probability of one billion to one.

Yet, even when confronted with indisputable proof, Lee attempted to manipulate the justice system, claiming his DNA had somehow changed and that the forensic samples were contaminated or faulty.

However, the jury swiftly dismissed his defence, returning a guilty verdict in under two hours at Inner London Crown Court on December 23, 2024.

A Repeat Offender on the Sex Offenders Register

At the time of his arrest, Lee was already a registered sex offender.

He had been previously convicted of rape in 2016 under eerily similar circumstances, served time in prison, and was released in 2022 under strict conditions.

However, he violated the terms of his release, once again posing a threat to the public.

Detectives Praise Victim’s Courage

Met Detective Jack Woods, who led the investigation, commended the victim’s bravery and the police’s relentless pursuit of justice.

He said “Lee is an extremely dangerous predator who deliberately targeted a vulnerable woman, believing she would be too confused to report him. He was wrong. Thanks to the bravery of the victim and the meticulous work of our officers, Lee is now exactly where he belongs—behind bars.”

Extended Supervision After Release

In addition to his 13-year prison sentence, Lee’s licence has been extended by seven years, meaning he will remain under strict monitoring long after his release.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to holding repeat offenders accountable, ensuring they cannot exploit the system to continue preying on victims.
