Church authorities described the act as both a criminal violation and a deeply troubling desecration of sacred materials, prompting urgent calls for spiritual reflection and collective prayer.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri has responded by urging the faithful to remain calm while intensifying prayers for the recovery of the sacred items and for those responsible to show remorse.

Officials also emphasized the spiritual significance of the Blessed Sacrament, noting that its removal from a consecrated space carries profound religious implications for worshippers.
