Seyi Tinubu has thrown his support behind celebrity businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, following his defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the House of Representatives seat in Imo State.
Cubana Chief Priest had contested for the APC ticket to represent Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election but failed to emerge as the party’s candidate during Saturday’s primary.
The nightlife entrepreneur, who also serves as Imo State coordinator of the City Boy Movement, had entered the race after purchasing the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms.
He had framed his political ambition around youth empowerment, grassroots development and encouraging greater participation of young people in politics.
Reacting to the outcome, Seyi Tinubu, Grand Patron of the City Boy Movement, offered words of encouragement in a message shared on his Instagram story on Sunday.
Acknowledging the disappointment that often comes with political contests, he urged Cubana Chief Priest not to see the setback as the end of the road.
“Bro, sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. Keep your head up @cubana_chiefpriest. We know what you are capable of achieving,” he wrote.
Cubana Chief Priest’s political ambition had generated strong reactions across Imo State and on social media, with supporters praising his popularity and philanthropic profile while critics questioned his political experience and readiness for legislative office.
Despite losing the APC ticket, Tinubu’s message signals continued backing for the businessman, whose next political move now remains a subject of public interest.
