Aba, Abia State in South East if Nigeria, is gripped by tension as soldiers have taken over the city in response to the killing of five of their colleagues.

The soldiers have barricaded major roads, including the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, and are patrolling the streets in armored vehicles.

Residents are living in fear, scampering for safety whenever they sight the soldiers.

Many markets and businesses have shut down, and schools have been closed as parents are too afraid to let their children leave their homes.

The soldiers have also stormed several markets and business centers, ordering traders to leave the areas.

They have taken over the Cemetery, Ngwa road, Nsulu markets, and other business centers, leaving traders and residents stranded.

The city is in a state of lockdown, with residents staying indoors to avoid reprisal from the soldiers.

The military helicopters are still hovering over the Ogbor Hill area and environs, adding to the tension.

The killing of the soldiers has sparked a massive military operation in the city, with soldiers determined to fish out those responsible. The situation remains volatile, with residents living in fear of their lives.

The soldiers have also blocked the Aba-Umuahia section of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, causing chaos and confusion for travelers. Passengers are being forced to alight from their vehicles and trek a kilometer, raising their hands in surrender.

The military operation has brought the city to a standstill, with many residents calling for calm and restraint. The situation is still developing, with no end in sight to the military operation.
