Super Eagles: Iheanacho trains with Eagles
Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has returned to the Super Eagles training camp after recovering from an injury.
This is a significant boost for the Nigerian squad, who are eager to perform well in the tournament and win their upcoming match against the hosts, Ivory Coast, especially after dropping points in their first game.
The Super Eagles played their first game against Equatorial Guinea, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
Kelechi Iheanacho was unable to play in the game due to his struggle with match fitness. However, recent developments suggest that he has fully recovered and is now ready to contribute to the team’s efforts to win the tournament.
According to a post by Soar Super Eagles on X, where they posted Iheanacho’s picture in training kits with the caption, “Seniorman Kelz gets on with the boys.”
It’s expected that Iheanacho will play in the up coming match against Ivory Coast, which will add depth and experience to the Nigerian squad.
The Super Eagles, led by coach Jose Peseiro, are aiming to qualify for the round of 16 in the tournament
Nigeria had to call up replacements for Victor Boniface, Wilfred Ndidi, and Sadiq Umar due to injuries.
Having Iheanacho back in the squad will be a huge positive for the team as they aim to win their fourth AFCON title in Abidjan.
