Tinubu fuels Rivers crisis, backs Wike’s plot against Fubara
DDM News

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has condemned the alleged impeachment plot.
According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports, Eze accused President Bola Tinubu of supporting Minister Nyesom Wike’s plan to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office.
He stated that Tinubu’s support for Wike has made him lose favor with Niger Deltans who value democratic governance.
Eze claimed that the political crisis in Rivers State has persisted because of the backing Wike receives from the presidency.
According to Eze, Wike is leading an impeachment plot to install Martin Amaewhule as governor with Tinubu’s support.
He alleged that Wike is exploiting his alliance with Tinubu to destabilize Rivers State and weaken Fubara’s government.
Eze stated that Wike’s ultimate goal is to impose Amaewhule as governor to manipulate the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.
He described the impeachment attempt as an undemocratic and desperate move that would ultimately fail.
Eze argued that rather than weakening Fubara, these political attacks would strengthen his resolve to govern effectively.
He warned that Wike and Tinubu’s plans to remove Fubara would collapse like a pack of cards.
Eze recalled that he had previously warned Tinubu that his alliance with Wike would harm the APC as a political party.
He emphasized that removing Fubara from office would tarnish Tinubu’s reputation as a democratic leader.
Eze maintained that Tinubu and Wike do not understand the complexities of Rivers State politics.
He explained that Rivers State politics is divided into two major blocs—the upland and riverine zones.
He noted that the upland bloc has governed the state for 24 years through Odili, Amaechi, and Wike.
Eze pointed out that the riverine bloc only recently assumed leadership with Fubara’s emergence as governor.
He argued that disrupting Fubara’s government would amount to marginalizing the Ijaw nation and other riverine ethnic groups.
Eze described the attempt to remove an Ijaw governor as politically insensitive and unjust.
He accused Wike of pushing for Fubara’s removal due to his personal ambition and greed for power.
Eze warned that replacing the first riverine governor with another upland politician could destabilize Rivers State.
He called on Amaewhule and his supporters to stop pursuing the impeachment and focus on responsible governance.
Eze criticized the lawmakers for disrespecting the governor and undermining the authority of the Rivers State government.
He stated that they have publicly insulted Fubara, showing disregard for the dignity of his office.
Eze questioned whether Wike would have tolerated such opposition if he were still governor.
He argued that if Fubara were not a peaceful and respectful leader, the crisis would have escalated further.
Eze condemned the lawmakers’ refusal to attend Fubara’s peace meeting to resolve the political crisis.
He described their refusal as arrogance and an insult to the governor’s office.
Eze called Fubara’s invitation a political masterstroke aimed at exposing the lawmakers’ true intentions.
He claimed that their rejection of the peace meeting proved they were more interested in chaos than governance.
The political crisis in Rivers State has persisted for months without resolution.
Fubara and the Amaewhule-led lawmakers remain locked in a fierce power struggle.
Efforts to mediate between both sides have so far been unsuccessful.
Eze maintained that Rivers State could progress without Amaewhule and his political allies.
He dismissed claims that the lawmakers were indispensable to the state’s governance.
Eze urged them to abandon their impeachment plot and support peace and stability in the state.
He warned that removing Fubara unfairly could have serious political consequences beyond Rivers State.
Eze concluded by cautioning that any undemocratic move against Fubara would ultimately fail.
