Trump must be impeached! Ossoff roars over meme coin scandal

Senator Jon Ossoff, Democrat of Georgia, has called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Ossoff made the call during a town hall meeting he hosted near Atlanta on Friday April 25, 2025.

The senator told the crowd that Trump’s conduct has surpassed any known standard for impeachment.

He said, “I mean, I saw just 48 hours ago, he is granting audiences to people who buy his meme coin.”

Ossoff accused Trump of effectively selling access to the presidency for personal financial gain.

He added, “When the sitting President of the United States is selling access for what are effectively payments directly to him, there is no question that rises to the level of an impeachable offense.”

The town hall turned heated when a concerned attendee questioned why Democrats had not yet moved to impeach Trump.

The woman expressed her fears, saying she believes “everything that Trump is doing is leading us down an authoritarian rule.”

She urged Ossoff to take bolder steps, saying, “Do more. I like you and I will vote for you if you are brave, and you do what we need. We need him impeached, we need him removed.”

Ossoff, who is currently campaigning for reelection to the U.S. Senate, responded with strong agreement.

He said, “I strongly agree with you. The only way to achieve what you want to achieve is to have a majority United States House of Representatives. And believe me, I’m working on it every single day, every single day.”

Ossoff’s call for impeachment has reignited the national conversation around Trump’s conduct in office.

It follows a wave of criticisms leveled against Trump over alleged ethical violations tied to his newly launched digital currency venture.

Reports have alleged that Trump has been offering meetings and special access to donors and supporters who invest in his meme coin project.

While Trump’s team has denied any wrongdoing, critics argue that selling influence through financial schemes undermines democratic institutions.

Legal scholars have also weighed in, with some arguing that such behavior constitutes grounds for impeachment.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign continues to gain momentum as he seeks reelection, dismissing the allegations as partisan attacks.

Political analysts suggest that calls for impeachment could energize both Democratic and Republican bases ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

As the controversy unfolds, pressure is mounting on Democratic leaders to take a firmer stand.

House Democrats have not yet indicated whether a formal impeachment inquiry will begin.

For now, Ossoff’s bold statement places him at the forefront of a growing faction within the party demanding urgent action.
