The Elections Petition Tribunal for Sokoto/Zamfara states on the national and state Assemblies elections sitting in Sokoto has sacked the member representing Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency, Umar Yusuf Yabo, the Dan Majen Yabo.
In a judgment delivered on Monday, Tribunal Chairman Justice Ashu A. Ewah declared Danmaje’s election null and void and ordered him to pay N500,000 in damages to the petitioner.
Justice Ewah, along with Justices Helen N. Hammanjoda and Ali T. Changbo, instructed INEC to withdraw Danmaje’s Certificate of Return and to conduct a fresh election in the affected polling units within 90 days.
The new election will take place in four polling units across Yabo and Shagari local government areas, including Dagawa Maji Kira, Dagawa Mai Zane, Shiyar Magaji, Kesoji Shiyar Hakimi, Jaredi Maji Kira, and Mazoji.
