Trump declares he doesn’t need Elon Musk’s help
DDM News

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he does not need tech billionaire Elon Musk in his administration.
According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), Trump made the statement during a Cabinet meeting held at the White House on Thursday.
Musk was present at the meeting and reportedly smiled and nodded at the president’s remarks.
Despite the denial of any formal role, Trump expressed admiration for Musk’s achievements.
“Elon has done a fantastic job,” Trump said.
“I don’t need Elon for anything other than I happen to like him,” he added.
Trump revealed he recently purchased a Tesla vehicle.
He described the purchase as a gesture of support for Musk.
“I don’t need his car,” Trump said.
“I actually bought one.”
“They said, ‘Oh, did you get a bargain?’”
“No. I said, ‘Give me the top price.’”
“I paid a lot of money for that car.”
Trump did not specify which Tesla model he bought.
He also did not say whether it was customized.
The statement was seen as an endorsement of Musk’s business and a sign of independence from corporate influence.
Trump and Musk have had a complex relationship over the years.
During Trump’s first term (2017–2021), Musk served on White House business councils.
Musk later resigned from those councils.
He left after Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017.
Musk has long supported clean energy and climate initiatives.
Despite their past disagreements, the two have occasionally aligned on issues like free speech and technology policy.
Speculation has grown over Musk’s possible role in the current administration.
His appearance at the White House added to the buzz.
Trump’s comments on Thursday seemed to end those assumptions.
Musk, now 53, is the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter).
He is also known for his influence on social media and growing political commentary.
In recent years, Musk has voiced support for conservative policies and figures.
Still, he has never officially joined any political party.
Musk and the White House DOGE Office
Reports suggest Musk has been informally helping with the Digital Operations and Government Efficiency (DOGE) office.
This unit is tasked with implementing cost-saving reforms in federal agencies.
Musk’s advice is said to be based on his experience in the tech sector.
No official position has been offered or confirmed.
Trump’s tone suggests the relationship is more personal than professional.
Analysts believe Trump avoids giving too much authority to high-profile outsiders.
Musk’s bold public persona may be seen as potentially overshadowing Trump.
Symbolic Support or Strategic Signal?
Trump’s purchase of a Tesla may be more than personal.
Some view it as a symbolic move to attract tech-focused voters and businesses.
Though traditionally aligned with fossil fuel interests, Trump has shown occasional support for clean tech.
His support appears selective and on his own terms.
By backing Musk publicly, Trump signals openness to innovation while maintaining autonomy.
Still, he emphasized his independence.
“I like him,” Trump said.
“But I don’t need him.”
The statement reflects Trump’s desire to appear self-sufficient.
He values admiration without dependence.
As Trump’s administration takes shape, Musk’s role remains unofficial and uncertain.
For now, their connection appears rooted in mutual respect, not political obligation.
