Ukraine War: Russia Bans Aviation Fuel Exports

Share this:

Russia has announced a temporary ban on the export of aviation fuel, a move aimed at stabilising its domestic market as Ukrainian attacks on energy infrastructure intensify.

The government said on Monday that the restriction, which will remain in place until the end of November, covers jet fuel exports but excludes shipments carried out under intergovernmental agreements.

Officials said the decision was necessary to ensure “stability in the domestic fuel market,” as pressure mounts on Russia’s energy sector.

The ban comes as Ukraine steps up its strikes on Russian refineries, fuel depots and pipelines in recent weeks, extending its operations as far as the Urals.

Many of the attacks have reportedly triggered large fires, though the full scale of the damage remains unclear.

Moscow has already placed restrictions on the export of car fuel in recent months, as it struggles to balance domestic supply needs with wartime disruptions.

Energy infrastructure has become a key target in the ongoing conflict, with Ukraine increasingly focusing on Russian oil and gas facilities in an effort to weaken Moscow’s war capacity.
