We’ll never forgive Peter Obi for backing Trump’s military action in Nigeria — FG

The Tinubu administration has condemned former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for his remarks on U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to deploy military forces to Nigeria to fight terrorists.

Obi had said he’d “welcome” such intervention, prioritizing security, poverty reduction, and education, criticizing the government’s handling of insecurity.

Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s adviser, responded on X, saying, “We shall never forget and forgive Peter Obi for supporting a foreign invasion of Nigeria”.

The controversy follows Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged “Christian genocide,” warning of possible U.S. military action and aid cuts if insecurity isn’t addressed.
