11 civilians on Saturday, were killed following brutal attacks by armed bandits in Kagara and San-Isa wards, located in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to media reports, the coordinated attacks targeted not only Kagara and San-Isa but also surrounding rural communities.

The attacks have plunged residents into mourning and renewed fears of insecurity in the region.

A resident of Kagara, Abubakar Sani, who survived the attack, said that he lost two of his brothers in the onslaught.

He described the invasion as “sudden and brutal,” with villagers caught off guard by the heavily armed attackers.

He said the bandits who raided their village around 6:30pm on Saturday, stole cattle and other people’s belongings along with abduction of men and women into the forest.

“In fact, we saw hell last Saturday night, as the bandits entered our village in hundreds, all carrying guns, shooting sporadically to kill and kidnap our people in Kagara and other villages surrounding it,” Sani said.

Police authorities in Zamfara are yet to issue an official statement in respect to the development.
