Lagos POS operators to pay N10,000 fee [document]

Operators of point-of-sale (POS) transaction machine in Alimosho Local Government Council of Lagos State will have to pay N10,000 fee annually.

This was contained in a document obtained by ElombahNews on Saturday titled “General Notice”.

According to the document, POS operators will have to pay N5,000 for this year as the year has advanced.

Starting from next year, however, they will pay an annual fee of N10,000.

A business analyst with ElombahNews, who spoke on condition of anonymity and drew the attention of this medium to the development, condemned the fee.

He argued that the fee counteracts the ease-of-doing business policy of the Federal Government.

He also pointed out that the Federal Government amended its tax charges on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to enable them grow.

The analyst concluded by saying that Lagos State should desist from over-burdening SMEs with ridiculous taxes and fees.
