Rangnick appointment as Man United interim coach is not good news — Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager has admitted he is not particularly happy to see Man United close in on appointing Ralf Rangnick as interim manager.

After the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend, United are seemingly on the verge of installing Rangnick as their new boss until the end of the season.

The 61-year-old is currently head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, but before that had an incredibly extensive and successful managerial career in Germany.

And Klopp believes United will have made an impressive appointment, should they bring Rangnick in as expected.

“Unfortunately a good coach is coming to England, that’s how it is, to Manchester United,” Klopp said.

“Ralf is obviously a really experienced manager. He built most famously two clubs from nowhere to proper threats and forces in Germany, with Hoffenheim and Leipzig.

“United will be organised on the pitch, we should realise that – that’s obviously not good news for other teams.”

However, among all the praise, there was a word of warning from the Liverpool manager to Rangnick about the challenges the packed fixture list will present.

“All coaches in the world, we need time to train with our teams and Ralf will pretty quickly realise he has no time to train as they play all the time, so that makes it a bit tricky for him,” Klopp said.

“Apart from that, a really good man and an outstanding coach, if it happens, will come to England.”
