NEITI board meets Otti, emphasizes transparency, partnership

Umuahia, Abia State – NEITI ’s National Stakeholders Working Group recently visited Governor Alex Otti at his residence in Nvosi.

Significantly, the delegation aimed to strengthen collaboration and highlight transparency in governance.

Led by Alternate Chair Ambassador Mathew Adoli, the team attended a strategic retreat in Umuahia.

During discussions, Adoli stressed the visit’s symbolic importance, noting Abia’s progress under Otti’s leadership.

Specifically, he praised the state’s governance reforms and prudent resource management.

“We recognize states that prioritize accountability and inclusive development,” Adoli stated.

“Abia stands as a model for others.”

Moreover, the delegation commended Otti’s tangible achievements, including infrastructure upgrades and digital governance.

Adoli clarified these were not just promises but visible results.

“Fiscal discipline and urban renewal reflect responsible leadership,” he added.

NEITI also applauded the governor’s commitment to open governance, aligning with its core values.

Additionally, the meeting explored potential partnerships, with NEITI introducing programs like Opening Extractives and Subnational Implementation Frameworks.

These initiatives aim to boost revenue transparency and benefit resource-rich communities. “Abia can lead in accountability,” Adoli urged.

“Resource wealth should directly improve lives.”

Notably, Adoli praised NEITI’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, an Abia native, for elevating the organization globally.

He reiterated NEITI’s non-partisan approach, stressing that state-level progress drives national success.

“When states excel, Nigeria thrives,” he affirmed. “Abia’s strides inspire confidence.”

Concluding, Adoli encouraged Otti to sustain innovation and partnerships.

“Collaboration ensures resources benefit grassroots communities,” he said.

Ultimately, the visit reinforced NEITI’s dedication to transparency and sustainable development.
