Election: We Did Not Congratulate Buhari ― Ohanaeze

The apex Igbo body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has denied that it congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari as was wrongly reported recently and credited to Barr. Uche Okwukwu.

The spokesman of the group Chuks Ibegbu stated this while delivering a message at the Second All African Culture and Heritage expo which was held at Abuja recently and under the auspices of African Culture And Heritage Foundation [ACHEF].

The group said that it will meet very soon to x-ray the Presidential election and make its view known to the world.

For now it identifies with the position of PANDEF, NEF, Afenifere and Middle Belt Forum  on the matter and support the legal option by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

During the event, Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged African nationalities to hold their languages and cultures into a high esteem to earn the respect of Europeans and Asians.

Ibegbu regretted that many African cultures, languages and heritage face extinction  .

He blamed African rulers for this sad development as they mimic colonialists rather than promote indigenous African culture and languages.

Ibegbu also warned against cultural imperialism and enslavement .

He will later bag an Award as African Cultural Ambassador alongside Mukete Mbamaso from Rwanda and  Selessie Johas from Ethiopia.
