The Kwankwasiyya Movement has instructed its members nationwide to register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), confirming that its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is set to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
In a statement issued on Saturday, the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, said all arrangements had been concluded for Kwankwaso to join the ADC.
According to the statement, the former Kano State governor will officially register as a member of the party on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence in Kano.
The movement subsequently directed its supporters across the country to follow suit by registering with the ADC in their respective wards, local government areas, and states. Members were also urged to actively participate in party activities at all levels.
Describing the move as strategic, the group said the decision was taken in the best interest of the movement and the country, stressing its commitment to democratic values and good governance.
The development signals a major political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures continue to explore alliances aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu.
Further details on the defection are expected in the coming days.
