Trump Threatens to ‘Obliterate’ Iran’s Oil, Power, Water Facilities if Ceasefire Fails

United States President Donald Trump on Monday threatened Iran with widespread destruction of energy resources and key infrastructure if a deal to end the war is not reached promptly.

In a social media post, Trump said talks with Tehran are making “great progress,” but warned that if negotiations fail and the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked, the U.S. could target Iran’s electric plants, oil wells, Kharg Island, and possibly desalinization facilities.

The conflict shows no signs of slowing. Iran struck water and power plants in Kuwait, while an Israeli oil refinery was attacked.

In response, Israel and the U.S. launched additional strikes on Iranian positions.

Despite ongoing diplomacy, Trump has repeatedly escalated military threats, with thousands of additional U.S. troops deploying to the region.

The president also suggested that American forces might seize Kharg Island, Iran’s key oil export terminal, describing it as one of “many options.”

Iranian officials deny direct negotiations, with parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf dismissing the talks as a pretext for more U.S. troop deployments.

Experts warn that taking Kharg Island would be highly challenging due to Iranian missiles, drones, and artillery coverage from the mainland.
