Turkey has asked its Interior Ministry to seek Interpol Red Notices for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and another Israeli national, Afek Moskovitch, over allegations linked to the interception of a Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla.
Turkey’s Justice Minister, Akin Gürlek, said the request was made in connection with arrest warrants reportedly issued on July 14, 2026, over allegations including genocide, crimes against humanity, torture, unlawful detention, destruction of property and hijacking.
The case relates to Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which had sailed from Turkey towards Gaza carrying humanitarian aid and activists. Israeli forces stopped the vessels in the Mediterranean, detained the activists and later expelled them.
Turkey has been one of Israel’s strongest critics over the Gaza war, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan repeatedly accusing the Israeli government of genocide—an allegation Israel strongly rejects.
The move does not mean Netanyahu has been arrested or that an Interpol Red Notice has automatically been issued. Turkey is seeking international cooperation through Interpol based on its own judicial proceedings.
Israel has defended its military operations in Gaza, saying they are aimed at dismantling Hamas and protecting Israeli security.
