The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set the stage for the 2027 elections, fixing its presidential primary for May 15 and 16, 2026.

The party shared its timetable in a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, outlining the key steps leading up to the primaries from the sale of forms to screening and final voting across all positions.

Sales of expression of interest and nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, with a May 4 deadline for submission.

Aspirants will then be screened between May 6 and 8, while results are expected on May 11. Any appeals will be handled from May 12 to 13.

After the presidental primary, the party will move on to other contests: House of Representatives primaries on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Assembly on May 21, and governorship on May 23.

Running for president under the APC won’t come cheap.

The party has set the total cost of forms at ₦100 million—₦30 million for the expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination. Governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million, while fees for other positions vary.

There’s a bit of realief for some groups. Women, young aspirants, and persons with disabilities are required to pay only for the expression of interest form and half of the nomination fee.

The APC says the timetable follows the provisions of Nigeria’s constitution, the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). It also insists the process will be transparent and credible.

For now, no one has officially declared interest in the presidential race. Still, some party leaders have already thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu for a possible second term, even though he hasn’t formally announced his plans.
