AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE – Former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, has secured the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial ticket for Anambra North Senatorial District after emerging victorious in the party’s primary election.
Oduah defeated her opponent, Primus Odili, in the keenly contested primary held under the supervision of party officials, thereby positioning herself as the party’s flagbearer for the senatorial race.
The primary election was described as competitive but orderly, with party delegates participating in the selection process that eventually produced Oduah as the candidate.
Victory Strengthens APGA Position In Anambra North
Party stakeholders in APGA said the emergence of Oduah reflects the party’s strategic efforts to field experienced and politically exposed candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters within the party expressed optimism that her political experience at the federal level would strengthen APGA’s chances in the senatorial district.
They also noted that her background in governance and public administration could play a key role in shaping legislative priorities for Anambra North if elected.
Campaign Focus And Expectations
Oduah is expected to begin consultations with political stakeholders, community leaders, and grassroots supporters across the senatorial district as preparations for the general elections intensify.
Political observers say her candidacy is likely to attract significant attention due to her previous role at the federal level and her continued influence in Anambra politics.
Party Unity And Post-Primary Reactions
Following the primary, APGA leaders have called for unity among party members, urging supporters to rally behind the candidate to ensure electoral success in the upcoming elections.
Primus Odili, who participated in the contest, was also acknowledged by party members for his role in the democratic process, with appeals made for reconciliation and cooperation.
Looking Ahead To 2027
Analysts believe the Anambra North senatorial race will be highly competitive, with APGA expected to face strong opposition from rival political parties.
Oduah’s emergence is already reshaping early political calculations in the district as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
