LAGOS, Nigeria — Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and other distinguished personalities were honoured with awards on Saturday at the ongoing 2026 Catholic Men’s Guild Conference of the Catholic Church of the Assumption, Falomo, Lagos.

The awards were presented by the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Adewale Martins, who commended the recipients for their contributions to society, exemplary leadership, and commitment to the values of the Catholic faith. The conference, which brought together Catholic men from across the country, provided a platform for reflection on faith, service, and nation-building.

Rotimi Amaechi, who served as Governor of Rivers State and later as Minister of Transportation under President Muhammadu Buhari, was recognised for his dedication to public service and infrastructural development, particularly his role in the modernization of Nigeria’s railway system. The award was received by a representative on his behalf, as the former minister was unable to attend the event in person.
